Members of the Natural Herbal Mixture Practitioners of Nigeria (NHMPN) have been charged on the urgent need to obtain necessary regulatory bodies’ approval for their products to engender public acceptance of alternative medicine.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu gave the admonition while playing host to members of the association who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Akure.
Represented by his deputy, Honorable Agboola Ajayi, Akeredolu who described herbal medicine as an evidence of African civilization posited that proper hygiene for products is also essential to promote public health.
The governor equally advocated improved synergy between the association and orthodox medical practitioners saying such collaboration in the long run will put an end to capital flight in form of medical tourism.
The association’s Chairman, Mr Yusuf Alimi said the visit is to solicit government support to help the body to meet its challenges.
Also speaking, the association’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adejorin Adesuyi called on Nigerians to embrace herbal treatment as solution to several ailments without side effects.
