About sixty percent of patients admitted in the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Akure this year were cases related to diabetes. 

A Consultant Endocrinologist, Dr Adenike Enikuomehin, gave the revelation at the celebration of this year’s World Diabetes Day in Akure.

Enikuomehin who noted that half of the people with diabetes are undiagnosed, said that lifestyle modification is key to prevention and management of the disease. 

She also stressed the need for women to go for regular medical check up to know their status

She appealed to the state government to implement and strengthen policies for the prevention and control of diabetes.
