Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, has said that he will not use the meagre resources accrued to the state to construct flyovers when people’s needs in areas of health, education and access roads have not been met.
He also cautioned politicians to desist from using thugs to threaten the opposition during elections.
Addressing civil servants and heads of government agencies led by the Head of Service, Dr Buhari Bello, who paid him the traditional Sallah homage, Tambuwal said the needs of Sokoto State were different from other states inaugurating bridges and flyovers.
Tambuwal noted that despite his administration’s efforts to increase the state’s Internally Generated Revenue base, the State IGR was less than N700, 000 per month.
He explained that efforts had been intensified in the past three years to spread projects on small scale to the rural areas in areas of health, education, construction of feeder roads and award of scholarships.
