Secretary General of Afenifere, Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa has called for the scrapping of the Senate as a way of cutting cost in the face of the ongoing recession in the country.

Speaking on Orange FM’s Face to Face, a News and Current Affairs Programme, Bashorun Arogbofa said most members of the Senate have over the years not lived up to expectations of their constituents.

Speaking the recently passed not-too-young-to-run bill, the veteran educationist advised the younger generation not to be in a hurry to take over governance without tutelage saying the likes of Awolowo ‘learnt the ropes even at a tender age’

He also debunked insinuations that Afenifere has been factionalised or no longer  effective in its task of being a vibrant sociopolitical watchdog.
