The Federal Government has set up a 14 man committee on revenue generation in mining sector.

 

The committee is on the Optimization of Revenue from Mineral Resources Sector to increase the revenue base of the country.

 

Ministry of Mines and Steel Development Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite stated that in line with the projections of the President, the ministry is poised to contribute to lifting 100million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years.

 

He added that with over 44 mineral resources in the country, if all the revenue generated from them are properly harnessed, it would increase the revenue base of the country.

 

Adegbite who inaugurated the committee urged them to ensure that revenue generated from artisanal miners’ activities are recorded and work out ways to block leakages from illegal mining accruals.

 

 

Idowu Jokpeyibo made this known in a statement on behalf of the Ministry, she stated

 

“The Ministry of Mines and Steel Development is poised to actualise the Federal Government commitment to lift about 100million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years through the diversification of the economy from crude oil to solid minerals exploration and exportation.

 

“The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite stated  this when he Inaugurated the Ministerial Committee on the Optimisation of Revenue from Mineral Resources Sector.

 

“According to him, there are over 44 mineral resources in the country. He noted that if all the revenue generated from them are properly harnessed, it would increase the revenue base of the country.
