To further demonstrate its preparedness in preventing any outbreak of Monkeypox in Ondo state, the state government has rolled out some emergency numbers.
The health commissioner, Dr Wahab Adegbenro announced the health hotlines in a chat with www.orangefm.com.ng in Akure.
The numbers are 08033526714 or 08135896190 and are for immediate help in case of any suspicion of an infected person.
He listed symptoms to include severe headache, fever, sore throat, body and back ache as well as rashes all over the body.
He restated that no suspected case of the highly contagious viral disease has been recorded in the state.
Dr Adegbenro however said a 24-hour emergency team has been activated to be on the look-out for signs of monkey pox while surveillance teams have been mobilized in all the eighteen council areas to combat any health challenge.
Other proactive measures put in place include provision of Isolation Wards in all the Specialist Hospitals in the State, sensitisation and public enlightenment in print, electronic and social media among others.
The commissioner therefore charged residents to avoid eating bush meat and protect themselves from bodily contact with infected persons.
