The Nigeria Football
Federation (NFF) have vowed to double the winning bonus of the Super Falcons if they beat their Bayana Bayana counterparts in tomorrow’s final of the 11th African Women’s Nations Cup (AWCON) scheduled to hold in Accra.
The Falcons had earned three thousand dollars for a win in the group phase but were earmarked for five thousand dollars each for victory in the final.
However it was learnt yesterday that the NFF,
which commended the lofty commitment, dedication and resilience the players have displayed so far in the championship, decided to dangle the sum of ten thousand dollars for each players, as against the five thousand dollars it earlier promised, should they
retain the Cup tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the two captains, Onome Ebi and Rita Chikwelu have on behalf of the team
expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu
Buhari and millions of loving Nigerians all over the world for their support to the team.
They equally pledged that they would overcome South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in tomorrow’s final in order to return to Nigeria with the trophy.
It would be recalled that Nigeria defeated South Africa two nil in the final of the second edition of the competition in Johannesburg in the year 2000, to retain the Cup they had won at the inaugural edition in Nigeria two years earlier.
