Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has rounded off its oversight visit to local governments in the Southern Senatorial District with a charge to the council chairmen to make overall interest of the people and not politics determine projects execution.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Jamiu Maito while speaking after inspecting some projects executed by the immediate past Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Council area lauded the former council boss for his people-oriented projects.
He however expressed mixed feelings about the projects inspected in Ondo north and south Senatorial Districts saying some council areas did well while others performed poorly.
Maito also queried PPMU for approving the same contract sum of money for projects to be executed through direct labour, saying the committee will invite relevant stakeholders on the issue for the sake of clarity.
The caretaker chairman, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, Mr. Temidayo Akinsuroju, gave kudos to the committee for embarking on what he called practical oversight, which was a sharp departure from previous practices.
