Ondo State House of Assembly has cleared all the 18 commissioner nominees from Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu after considering and adopting the report of its committee on screening and selection.
The House confirmed the nominees at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun.
It would be recalled that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on August 1 2017, forwarded to the Assembly, names of 18 commissioner nominees, seeking their confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.
The commissioner nominees are Donald Ojogo from Ese odo, Yemi Olowolabi, Idanre, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, Ifedore, Funso Esan Ilaje, Wale Akinterinwa Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, Irele, Alhaji Olurimisi Ismaila, Odigbo, Femi Agagu Okitipupa, Prof. Bayonle Ademodi, Ondo East, and Lola Fagbemi Ondo West.
Others are Otunba Timilehin Adelegbe, Ose, Kola Olawoye, Owo, Rasheed Badmus, Akoko North-West, Solagbade Amodeni, Akoko South-East, Adegboyega Adefarati, Akoko South-West, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, Akure North, Mrs. Omowumi Olatunji-Edet, Akure South, and Toafik Abdulsalam, Akoko North-East.
The house had committed the nomination to its committee on screening and selection, which for three days grilled the nominees.
While presenting the committee’s report, the Deputy Speaker, Ogundeji Iroju said all the nominees are fit to take the mantle of leadership in the state having scaled the thorough the screening exercise.
The speaker then put to voice vote the recommendations of the committee on screening and selection which got the unanimous assent of all the lawmakers present at plenary.
He expressed optimism that they will all contribute their best to the development of the state.
The nominees then all took a bow after some of the lawmakers had spoken about each of them.
Speaking on behalf of the nominees, former Speaker, Taofik Abudulsalam appreciated efforts of the lawmakers for what he called proper grilling and confirmation of all of them.
