Ondo state government is set to hold a town hall meeting today to commemorate the declaration of June 12 as democracy day in Nigeria.

The states commissioner for information Mr Yemi Olowolabi made the declaration while fielding questions from Orange FM about the special town hall meeting.
Olowolabi said Governor Akeredolu renamed a park after the acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 election and started yearly commemoration service when nobody thought the federal government will recognise the date.
Also, the chairman of the planning committee of the town hall meeting, Professor Bayonle Ademodi said the choice of the theme of the meeting which is “June 12, Yesterday,Today and Tomorrow” will focus on uniting the older and the younger generation on the history and importance of June 12.
The town hall meeting will hold at the international event centre the dome in Akure today at 9am and will be chaired by former Ekiti state governor and former minister of solid minerals and steel Dr Kayode Fayemi.
