Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu says his administration is fully determined to revamp the education sector to put a stop to the declining standard in the quality of primary education in Ondo state. 

Akeredolu who made the revelation while inaugurating the state universal basic education board (subeb) chairman and members at the cocoa Conference hall of his office urged them to apply their knowledge and experience to the new task ahead.

The governor also inaugurated education secretaries across the eighteen council areas of the state.

The inauguration of Princess Oladunni Odu as the chairman of Subeb along with two commissioners was in line with the Akeredolu led government’s readiness to hit the ground running in the area of repositioning primary education sector in the state. 

Speaking shortly after inaugurating the board chairman, members and the education secretaries, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu revealed that their appointment was not political but based on their past experience to salvage the basic education sub-sector from total collapse. 

The Governor decried the manner with which many schools are neglected across the state and stressed his expectations for the board is to commence renovation work in earnest for equal distribution of knowledge with urban areas. 

He equally noted that his government will not tolerate any frivolities and enjoined them to resist all overtures which are evidently inimical to the set objectives of his government. 

Governor Akeredolu emphasized the importance of education to every child to improve their lives and the society at large.

Speaking on behalf of the board members and the education secretaries, the Subeb chairman, Princess Oladunni Odu thanked the governor for finding them worthy of the new task and pledged their loyalty to his government. 

Present at the ceremony include the deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, secretary to the state government, Ifedayo Abegunde, the state head of service Toyin Akinkuotu , commissioner for education, Femi Agagu and the acting chairman of the all progressives Congress in Ondo State, Ade Adetimehin.
